Time is often viewed as just another dimension that only travels in one direction. Forward time travel is possible simply by traveling near the speed of light or orbiting an object of higher gravity. Backward time travel is more of a challenge, it requires faster than light speeds which may not be possible in this physical universe. There are a few hypothetical theories that suggest it may be possible with exotic matters and energy that may not actually exist.
