Trauma is usually a cause of addiction, fear or shame or anger usually build up from a situation early on in life which people tend to hide from later in life in the form of addiction. Most times the anger stems from the inability to let go of a situation, this is why it is imperative for children to get psychiatric help when trauma does occur in order to learn positive coping strategies.

Traumas can include anything from bullying at school, home or on the internet, to sexual, physical and emotional abuse. Trauma can be inflicted on children by family, friends and strangers alike, children may learn negative coping mechanisms if they do not seek help which may lead to addiction later in life.
